I'm looking to lower my gearing without having to go to a compact if possible and would like ot know if anyone has experience with the Token Ceramic 11-27 cassette?

If so, were you able to use your short-cage derailuer or did you have to go to a medium-cage and longer chain?

I do not want to sacrifice top end speed, but need a little lower gearing for the mountain course we do.

I've never used the cassette you're talking about, but I'm running a 53/39 with a 12/27 and a short cage. You'll just need to adjust/replace the chain and you'll be ok.

I used one for a mountainous ride, it didn't shift as well, to the point where I took it off and used the bottom part (2 cogs) of a 13-26t mated to a 12-25t Record cassette. Shifting was dramatically better.

Thanks for the feedback. That might work. I don't know if 1 tooth is enough of a change. I live in Sierra foothills and the grades here can get pretty steep.
