Howdy:

O.K., so here is what I want to do....

Upgrade my Dura Ace 9 speed shifters to 10 speed and go with a SRAM 11-26. Following are my questions:

1. Will it work????
2. Will the 10 speed SRAM cassette work on my 9 speed shimano freehub?
3. What would be the best chain, the SRAM or the Shimano, if they are indeed compatible? I have a relatively new front 9 speed DA crankset I want to keep using,
4. Can I use the existing 9 speed front derailleur? I will be changing the rear to a 10.

Bonus question. Any opinions on the SRAM 1070 vs.1090?

Thanks! Any and all opinions and answers appreciated!

1. Yes it will work
2. Yes
3. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the Shimano compatible chains on the market. I like using a Wippermann Connex link, but that will work with either. I have both on my bikes and see no real difference.
4. Yes, this should work just fine. May need a bit of adjustment though.

Bonus. I just got myself a 11-26 1090. Haven't ridden it yet, but I doubt I will be disappointed. If you have the cash for it, I think it is kind of a no-brainer. Innovative design that I think everyone will be copying when they can.

4. 9 speed rear derailleur will work fine unless it is worn out and sloppy.
