This may be more my imagination than truth, but I'd like to ask anyone with direct experience. I have fairly large hands for being 5'11" and I'm wondering about brake hoods. I currently have Shimano 105s, and I've been thinking that a set of Dura Ace or Ultegra hoods would be more comfortable as they seem to be larger.

The few times I've tried Campy hoods, they have been very uncomfortable unless they are mounted higher on the curve of the bar (giving more of a flat section). Oftentimes this feels the same with the 105s. I have them mounted higher on my bars, but that compromises the drop position.

Is the Ultegra or Dura Ace hood larger? Might that help? Or is it really a question of finding the balance point between mounting a hood higher on the curve of the bar?

Thanks in advance for any ideas.
