Last year we found a great way to sneak around the DC summer heat. Well the heat is back and so are we.

Get up crazy early and hit the water at sunrise. Paddle for 3-4 hours then swap rides.

(As to why the photos aren't coming out in the correct order every time I just can't say....)

As you'd expect after that much time on the water things are heating up nicely and the tarmac is beginning to melt. We stick to the shade (and dirt) as much as we can. Plus we include lots of hills to mix things up.

Ride further than we paddled and finish before noon.

A fine way to spend a DC summer morning.

Talking about it, Miss M and I agree that this may be the greatest of all the things we do.....

I just want to know what the ratio is to (miles on the bike) to (miles in the car)
How does 6 to 1 sound?

It is hard to say (what with us having 2 houses now) but after 10 years our last car had less than 50,000 miles on it and between the 2 of us we had ridden at least 300,000 miles in that 10 years.
