Quick question:

I have a 2010 SRAM Force crankset with the Black Box GXP Ceramic bottom bracket. By adding spacers I can increase the amount of contact between the cranks and the BB face. On the drive side, do you want enough friction to cause the seal to turn or should the seal remain fixed?

No spacers are required. Are you following SRAM's instructions for install? I've seen several SRAM cranks installed incorrectly.

Yep, I've installed this stupid thing so many times I could do my own video.

I called SRAM today and they were baffled with my scraping sound but a bit
ambivalent about whether the seal should stay put or turn. I gather that it
should have a slight gap between the BB seal on the drive side and the back
of the crank face - but not enough to be able to induce side-to-side motion.

At this point, I think my question has been answered, or answered enough.

BTW, I must have done something right when I repacked the grease in the BB
before my ride (even though it was a brand new BB) I had my first quiet 30 miles
in ages.

I ended up buying the compatible Chris King bottom bracket, it is 1000x better than the GXP. Expensive, but well worth it.

Yeah, I thought about going that route. Problem is, my frame has Italian
threading and Chris King doesn't make a BB that will work. I have some other
Chris King stuff and have been quite happy with it all. Good thought.

How has it been working for you, I have heard som reports of creaking coming from the adapter sleeve has that been an issue for you?
