Can't say I ever liked him much as a person... if you read between the lines of many of his stories, he was something of a crass bully in real life (he threatened a quadriplegic Darryl Stingley in a restaurant at one point), but I always thought his story telling was fantastic. He was a legit comedian in his own right, no need for a 'he was Eddie Murphys' brother footnote.
And, leukemia sucks. Sorry it went down that way, Charlie. Say hello to Rick James and Prince in heaven for us.
