Man, look at the face on that Ricky Hatton. The dude needs to learn to duck or something 'cause he's been taking some shots.

I know Manny beat De La Hoya last year right IIRC?

That's about all I know about him. No idea who the other guy is at all.

I recalled watching the show while in Durham, NC about Oscar training in Big Bear vs. Manny training somewhere I can't recall (Las Vegas?) and that was pretty cool.

Yarbs ... do you get HBO? I've been watching the Thrilla in Manila doc. I'm not a big boxing fan but those were some epic dudes.

Hatton looks likes he's been blocking punches with his face. I say he gets knocked out in the 5th. i don't follow boxing, so i have no real idea, but i'll probably be right anyways.

the part where ali spoke at a kkk rally. mind.blown.

hbo produces a weekly docu in the weeks leading up to big fights called 24/7. the production value is absolutely through the roof (and insane when you think of the amount of time theyve had to do it). the insight into the lives of the fighters is nice, but its the trainers who really make it interesting. plus mayweather sr speaks in rhyme. cant beat that.

anyway, if you liked thrilla its worth checking out. here is the first episode in hd (and it has to be watched in hd due to the amazing photography work). the rest are easily googleable. i think this one might be censored, but whatever.

I saw the 24/7 before the Manny/DeLaHoya fight. It was incredible. Manny lives in this tiny apartment with his trainer and like 8 guys who "support" him. They all go everywhere together. When its time for Manny to go to the gym, they all go and just watch him. Some of them are his punching bag for a while. Some get him the food he wants/needs to eat. It was amazing to see how they all do everything just for him.

what amazed me was his generosity. its easy to for a high profile athlete to put his name on a foundation and just kinda let it do its thing, but here is a guy who could be anywhere in the world, doing anything he wants, driving around la the day before thanksgiving in a uhaul passing out turkeys. then when it showed the amount of work hes done back in the philippines it became clear that money and fame havent made him forget where he came from.

You should come back. Boxing is becoming what it was. The last 6 or 8 months many top guys have been facing each other. Looking ahead there are some interesting matches as well, starting this weekend with Jermain Taylor vs. Carl Froch.

MMA/UFC puts me to sleep.

As far as this fight, I am leaning towards Manny. The only person who has been able to hang with him is Juan Manuel Marquez. JMM is probably the best pure boxer in the game right now. That being said, Ricky is physically stronger than anyone Manny has fought. Plus he is a great body puncher, that could slow Manny down.
