I've got a Suzue disco hub that I've been using fixed since I built the bike. I got a hair up my butt to put a frewheel on the other side, and got a Shimano 16t bmx style. Now the problem is my chain doesn't match the teeth. I'm using an SRAM PC59, which worked fine on the fixed cog. Do I need to switch chains or try another freewheel?
Thanks

I believe that the PC 59 is a standard 3/32" road chain. Most BMX stuff (as well as true track) is 1/8". Unless you find a 3/32" freewheel, the answer is yes you will have to buy a new chain. - TF

A pc59 sounds like it might be a 9speed chain. a regular 8speed pc48or 58 chain should work with your shimano FW unless it is actually a 1/8 freewheel. I think it is possible that the fw is just a little to thick for a narrower 9speed chain, but still work on a 3/32 track cog. I think a 8speed 3/32 chain or a wider 1/8 track or bmx chain should work

Agreed. Use an 8 speed chain. Most Shimano freewheels will work with 3/32 and 1/8 chains

Thanks,

for all the replies. It turned out to be as simple as swapping out the freewheel for the correct one at my LBS. Cost me a buck, and he did a few adjustments on the bearing locknuts. I also put the Syntace bullhorns(from Chucks), and a Cane Creek 200TT lever on it in the process. Now I'm going to give it a little spin to see how it feels :).
