Hey all, long time, eh? I'm feeling melancholy and thought it would be a good time to check in with the Lounge. I'm still cancer free (yay me). No new corgi yet, but I'm looking. Although I've not been around as much, I still hold The Lounge in a special place in my heart.

My mom passed away last Saturday, dx'd with esophageal cancer on New Year's day, died a week later. I'm still a bit numb, but trudging on. She had been ill with various minor things since October, but I honestly never expected this.

This is not meant as a "OMG Snap, you poor thing" post. I truly wanted to see how y'all are doing.

Here's a corgi.

OMG Snap, that was so sudden. I really feel for you. Good to see you back here with your friends and I'm sure we all share in sending you massive rest in peace wishes to your Mum. I just came to work after blowing up a little at my family, no hugs, no I love yous. Man we(I) all too often take loved ones for granted. RIP to your mum and glad to see you again even under these circumstances.

You should meet a corgi. They are cool dogs. And a lounge institution.

Very nice to "see" you! And very sorry about your mother, damn that's rough. :(

Post anything and everything you want, whether it be melancholy ramblings or corgi photos. It's not like we have anything better to do than read about it (work doesn't count! :p )

Oh, and far as the corgi goes, you should get a very silly one and name him Derp.

Miles of smiles that way. :)

I remember you.

Sorry about your mother. My wife's mother passed away unexpectedly a little over a year ago, and she still misses her a lot. Give it time.

Stick around for a while.

Sorry about your Mom, Snap, but extremely happy about you being cancer free.

Whatever you do, don't get a GSP like Marshall, unless you want a heap of craziness.

Hi Snap! I remember you too. Glad that cancer is staying away. Sorry about your mom. Parents keep getting older. We know it's gonna' happen. Yet we're surprised when it does. My mom's 92, but with her daily drug cocktail she hangs in there.

You should get a corgi. They're a lownje institution, along with Subarus and you.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Glad your health is stable. I share your loss, just a few years ago. It's rough and it's never better. There is no better or worse way to lose your mom. For me, what helps, and it helps a lot, is to do things, make changes, so that aspects of my daily life reflect things she taught me or valued really highly. Small changes even, doesn't have to be huge. Every day I try to think of and do something that would make her smile. It keeps her close by. And it honors her memory as we should honor those we love so much that we will never stop struggling with losing them. Sending you all the good vibes I have!

My condolences, if I remember correctly you had your Mother living with you during her twilight years. I admire that.
For now, think about a getaway/vacation, a little time for yourself.

Sorry to hear about your mom, Snap... Losing parents is the worst--it's the club that no one wants to join...

Glad to read that your own health is good--cancer free and all.
