Hi There,

I'm trying to pick a new bike. I've been riding a friend's GT crossover for a few years and have thoroughly enjoyed getting hooked on cycling through it. I can now afford my own bike in the $1500 AUD flat-bar road bike range so it is time to give the GT back and look further afield. After looking around, I've come across two likely contenders:

Specialized Sirrus Elite
Trek Pilot 1.2 Flat Bar

Are either of these a clear winner or is there a third bike I should consider? I'll use it mostly for commuting with longer rides on the weekends for fitness and recreation.

Cheers,

Aaron.

My return to cycling was via a Cannondale Adventure 600, a nice flat bar option. I switched the tires from 32s to Conti 4 Season 28s and added a Stelle San Marco Aspid Arrowhead saddle, both were nice improvements.

I then added a Pilot 5.0 to the fold. The pilot is a great ride and I use it 90% of the time but I still enjoy the Cannondale for more casual riding and early / late season riding in poor weather. The Bad Boy is a nice option as are both the bikes you have listed - test ride as many as you can and let that guide your decision.
