Can your headset affect the stiffness of your frame? I notice pushing on the bottom of the hook, I can feel flex around the headset.

Just a thought, and no flaming please.

if the headset is adjusted properly, nope...It won't effect stiffness. The flex you feel might be a loose headset

The headset is definitely tight. When i push on the bars, especially in the hooks, I feel flex. It seems to eminate from the headset interface, but that could be just where I can feel it the most.

Could my steertube be flexy (full carbon). I think my fork is an unbranded Ritchy Pro.

I'd bet you'll see flex in the bars, stem and steerer. If you have someone else flex it as you have been you'll be able to see where the bulk of it comes from and I'll bet it's mostly the steerer.

And to a certain extent they all do this. The force has to go somewhere.
