I haven't had a chance to post too many reports here lately and have really missed the time to look through all the cool postings. I got promoted two weeks ago and it's sucking the life out of my internet time. So, I took advantage of it in a way and have been leaving my camera at home and just riding for the sake of riding. God how I love just crusing along listening to the rush of the wind and sound of my tires. Anyway, my wife and I have been training for the Death Ride by riding from our home and up into the edge of the Sierras and then down into Washoe Valley every night. For those of you who don't know the area, Washoe Valley is stuck between Reno and Carson City and makes a perfect area to ride in the evenings. It's the easiest way to get a quick 30 or more miles in straight from work. And, I still get home in time to relax and eat dinner. I love it. Anyway, here's a bunch of pics of it. Nothing too fancy but shows off the area a little bit.

Riding from work and around the legislure building. My wife works just around the corner and our house is only a couple of blocks away. As you ride out of town you pass the Ormsby House. Once a mighty casino (I say this in jest) it has been under rennovation for years without much change. Then we crossed town to the smell of lilacs and plum trees.

After following a little bike trail you start the climb up and over the hills into Washoe Valley. The people at the top have some awesome homes but almost lost them recently in a large forest fire. I still envy them.

I think I'll leave this route for another time. . .

Into the hills

After climbing up and over you drop into Washoe Valley along the 395 freeway. In a short ttime you curve away and head around towards Franktown and the really expensive homes. I envy these guys even more.

Why does this always happen to me? I can't ride for 30 minutes without needing to stop. Got to lay off the liquids.

Around through Franktown and back into Washoe.

Back to the house

Then we turned around and headed back on old 395 to cruise back over the hills and to home. Got to see a dead snake though. Also some dead squirrels but they were r rated smashed.

Cool report. I like the snake and the last picture of the house on the hill with the moon above it. Oh, and I bet the guys in those big houses you envy didn't go for a ride like that with their wife after work!

I likee...

.....but I am giving you fair warning; if you keep riding and training with your wife one day she is going to start hurting you bad.

The deal is, she is always riding with someone stronger and you are always riding with someone weaker so she is pushing herself and you are holding back. She gets used to pushing herself and you get used to cruising. The bill will come due some day and it is your legs, lungs and heart that are going to pay the price as she rides away from you up that first climb.

As I said, fair warning.....

You're probably right on that one. I do see them walking with their dogs but that's about it. I'm lucky my wife likes to ride so much. We're still a ways from matching MB and Ms. M but we're working on it.

I've been noticing that MB. We rode around Tahoe yesterday and she really pumped up the hills at Emerald Bay and I was actually going a little slower than her. That normally doesn't happen. I blamed it on the sub sandwich I ate earlier but now you've got me worried.
