I use one on my rides and it's a pretty nifty little gizmo. I really like having both in the same place.

I use them. What you need to get is just the "energy core". It works in regular Specialized bottles. Also note, your bottle won't hold as much liquid because you are displacing it with the core of gel. They are a neat idea.

i have a first generation gel bot. here are the problems with it:
a) the bottle doesnt fit snuggly in the cage
b) certain gels dont flow easily (GU chocolate...especially in cold weather)
c) cleaning isnt as easy as it looks

here are the positive things:
1) the top fits all specialized bottles
2) three gu packets fit in one gelbot
3) no trash/smears in your jersey
4) you can clean it, but it takes time

Love the idea, but I can see two things that would cause problems for me:

I would forget to clean it out, and would end up with a science experiment in my bottle.
On a hot day, I would end up with a face full of GU when I sprayed myself in the face.

But that's just me. You all would be fine with it.

That is what turned me off of it...Eventhough there are different levels of pulling out the top, I squirted gel (not c0de) on my back as I was trying t o cool off...
