i'm sure this topic has been run into the ground, with the whole giant vs. trek thing, but i searched and couldnt really find anything so here we go.

i'm a definite beginner with road bikes, rode mountain my whole life, just got into road last summer. looking to spend around a grand on a new bike, planning to make trips around indiana, even into illinois (i rode roughly 100 miles a day last summer on a POS road bike that was too small for me). these are the 2 bikes i've been looking at the most.

TREK

GIANT

basically, i just know that giant's frames are a little heavier than treks. any help?

OCR frame is better made than the 1200 frames... if you saw the frames in person - just take a look at the tubing... as well as the paint/finish... Trek alum frame = after 2 years of riding the decals are gone.

And the OCR's geometry isn't really comparable to the 1200... OCR is more like the Pilot line and TCR alloy series are more comparable to Trek's 1200~2300 alum frames.
