Can anyone provide a list of good organized group training rides or routes in Tucson, Arizona for an aspiring professional cyclist/Cat 1? Can anyone lead me in the right direction to any resources to find out some good groups or training routes?

If you are looking for a good climb than Mt. Lemmon is about the best hill around. From base to the radio towers it’s about a 30 mile climb. Many just go to mile 14 (Windy Point), which is a pretty good hump. The entire length of the climb was recently resurfaced and widened creating a great cycling shoulder making it a great and “safe” road ride. On any day of the week (summer early morning) you will never be alone on the climb. On weekend’s it’s a regular roadie ride for many roadie Tucsonans’.

A good resource for rides in the area is GABA http://www.bikegaba.org/. They have a good list of road rides in the area. If you want to ride with fast locals a good ride to start with is the “Saturday Morning Shootout.” It’s a smattering of the fast and really fast riders in the area. Sometimes you might find a few pros in the pack ready to push your LAT to the brink. Lastly, if you want the scoop on high end road bikes and where to meet for fast rides, stop by Fairwheel Bikes http://www.fairwheelbikes.com/.
