What is the effect of a head tube being being shorter with all other frame measurements being =. Specifically 148mm vs 152mm. I have an Orbea Onix in size 54 that I think fits me well and looking at the Aqua the only difference in the sizes is the Aqua's head tube.

If the other tube lengths are all the same then the seat tube or head tube angle must be different which could alter handling and/or seat for/aft position.

A different head tube length means none of those things. Head tubes are often extended 5-10mm, simply at the manufacturer's discretion.

I was going on the assumtion that the tubes were joined at the same relative location. You are correct, the head tube could easly extend up past the joint.

That "extended head tube" look is not a good look. This is the goofiest thing I've ever seen!
