I have been cycling since the early 80's and loved every minute of it ...except for going up the hills. At 65 I am giving up my road bike and mountain biking for a single speed, (ride with the grandson bike)
any advise?

Welcome. No advice to offer. At 66 I still like riding the road bike (been doing so since the early 70's), and I still love going up the hills (always have). I ride fixed-gear bikes often (but not in hills much).

Have fun. Why are you giving up the road bike? Just curious.

Yeah, don't do it. You'll be sorry and wish you still had the bikes.

Welcome. I'm mostly on the singlespeed lately, for commuting. Don't think of myself as a "roadie" since it's a different style of riding than urban commuting.

Still love mtb, but we've just got the one trail near our house, and we don't get into the woods as much as we used to.

Welcome!

Why give up the road bike? Do you have a storage space issue?

Why do you want a single speed?
