I have run out of bike parts to buy so now I am thinking about a helmet cam and recorder. Anyone have any experience and recommendations?

I haven't seen this discussed much here on RBR, but it's been discussed quite a bit on MTBR's boards.

Two ways to do the helmet cam:
1. Helmet mount for a regular camera (miniDV or DVD or whatever you want)
2. Lipstick cam mounted on your helmet feeding into a camcorder.

I went w/ the lipstick camera option as I already had a miniDV camcorder. I have a 480line color camera from rf concepts (http://www.rfconcepts.co.uk/). Quality isn't as good as from my actual minDV camcorder, but it's good enough, plus camcorders general have some sort of video stablizer, which doesn't work when using a video input (lipstick cam).

See if the MTBR member Pete still has his homepage w/ helmet cam setup/instructions/pics/vids.

Samsung makes one that I wouldn't mind having. If they would slightly improve it and make it cheaper it would be even more attractive to me. Also, I'd like to see it in person to see the actual video quality.

I was looking for the same thing.

The Samsung has about the worst reviews ever for a camcorder though. The quality is worse than bad from the reviews I read.

Finding one that's decent quality would be good...
