Just wondering if Ullrich was going to be riding one of his new line of frames in TDF.

If so, major hit in the 'marketing dept' of his new frame/bike line.....Would have been a killer debut of any new bike.

No - when the new bike was introduced, it was said that it was under the UCI weight limit. Not only that, but he already has a bike sponsor - Giant - but his contract did not forbid him from sponsoring his own bike line.

they often have to add lead weights to bikes in the mountains to make them UCI legal, so him riding the light frames could have been done.

however, im sure giant would object. and i think you need special permission to ride something different from your team, almost like the uniform codes.
