I will be tearing down my bike in a couple of days and of course that means I will be building up my bike in a few more days. I have the Shimano R 700 crankset with Hollowtech II type BB. Installation seems pretty straightforward and I have gathered all the necessary info and tools for doing the job. My main concern is this: How the heck do you judge the 6-13 inch pounds required for the bearing preload? I know my torque wrench is not that accurate and this does seem to be a fairly important adjustment. I know people will say that is equal to 1 pound of force on a 6 to 13 inch wrench handle (which is very little). I am hoping that there is a better way of guesstimating this force to make sure my BB lasts a nice long time. Any tricks or tips are welcome.
