I plan on getting back into racing (late this summer/fall or next spring) my question for everyone is this. I'm also in the market for a new ride, should I buy my new ride sooner or later? In other words, if I race this summer or fall should I ride my current ride (Mongoose Morzine w/full 105) or should I buy my new ride when I get back into racing (before my first race)?

thanks

Just race what you've got for now, you'll be fine.

It depends what your new ride is going to be. I have a coupla road bikes, and I race the aluminum CAAD5 with a hodgepodge of components. I train and group ride on an all-carbon / Record bike that I don't want to crash in a race.

Yeah, it's a little lighter. Only by maybe a pound and a half. I don't even notice.

I took the carbon bike to a hillclimb TT a few weeks ago because of that, but unless you're going from a 30-pound 70's rocket to a 15-lb CR1 or something, I don't think it matters a ton.

Wheels, I notice that for sure, and I don't even have fancy Zipps.
