There is a race coming up in August am im setting my sights to win.

it is a 53km/33mi race, racing out to a point (halfway), of slightly uphill 1/2% gradient then turning around with a 1/2% downhill on the way back.

How do you guys think would be the way to win?

last year there were 4 guys who came in 2 mins ahead of everyone else.

Cheers :)

Stay out of the wind until the last minute.

Cross the finish line First.

Stay near the front but out of the wind, and make sure to end up with any breaks that might go (like you said last year).

Expect an attack either right before or right after the turn around. If you think you are a stronger sprinter, sit in and sprint at the end. If you are not, then you have to get into or make a break early.

Brush up on pack sprinting. If that's not possible, hope for a massive headwind on the way in, and attack into it.
normally the wind is a headwind on the way there, and a tailwind on the way back.

Have around 15-20 races under your belt, so far this year.
If this will be your first race of the year........dream on, dream on.

Well, a starting point is how it finished last year, so its possible for a strong, small group to stay away. The first half favors some sort of selection of stronger riders ans the second half favors a group that can work together over a single rider.

Do you have a sprint? Can you climb? If yes to both, then try to force a select group on the way out then time your kick just right on the way back.

If yes and no, hope it stays slow on the way out and you can hang with the group, then sit in until the finish.

If no and yes, then try to get a group of 5 or less, then on the way back jump at least 1+ km to the finish right after the strongest rider in the group has taken a pull. Hope the other guys won't tow the strong guy to the finish and you can hold off for the win.
