The power of conicidence

I've done a field test and have determined that my LTHR is 152 bpm. Using the software it calculated that I go anaerobic right at 152 bpm (in the Dr. Peter Kanopka mode).
The fact that it predicted your LTHR is pure coincidence. There is no formula to predict HR within the narrow range that is needed for determining training zones. These formulas can predict HR within 22 beats for 50% of the population, and within 44 beats for 95% of the population. Neither number is worth the time it takes to go to that web site.

Considering that all formulas predict my max heart rate is 193 when I routinely hit 200 show how inaccurate these are. Hell.. the last time I went mountain biking 2 weeks ago I hit 198bpm 5 times in a ride.

I can't wait to get a powermeter... then I'll have some real training zones.

uh oh. here comes the powermeter debate.......
down with powermeters!! they're evil!!!

Ok ok, I joke. I'd by one tomorrow if I could afford it.

Seems like this software would be great for someone just getting into the sport with zero clue what their zones are. Not as good as actually taking a few days to test on the road but I'll bet it would work good enough.
