Told my manager today, that if things didn't change drastically, I was retiring next year. I can't take being gone for a week only to return to a train wreck that I have to clean up. Anybody want a job as my back up?

I wish I could leave my job. I am totally fed up with it. I have been off vacation for two weeks and it has been pure hell since. Retiring is way too far away for me. :(

Bad sign

I misread this subject title as "I'd Hit It".

That can't be good.

It could be worse. You could start dropping RBR stuff into your every day conversation. You could be dreaming in RBR. Lots worse!

Good for you! At least you have that option. Hopefully that will get things to shake out to a point where you can live with it. Work is not that bad when you only have to do your job and not everyone else's too.

I am kind of hoping we can "fix" things. I actually like my job; I just hate cleaning up other people's messes.

Course, if I do this, what do I do with the rest of my life? Yikes....

ANYTHING!

Scary thought, I know, but I am sure someone of your talents would find something to do that would be rewarding.

Good for you Snap. Why don't you quit and move over here? Nice, cold climate, heaps of the white stuff, mild summers without any humidity, hot Swedish men (maybe), an incredibly socialised system, and eight political parties to choose from. Plus Anneli and I would love to have someone pick up and drop off the kids at daycare everyday :) . Seriously, it can't a be an easy decision. Takes a lot of courage to finally decide to do what you want to do. I was a PhD student for a two years and hated it. I would cringe every morning at the thought of going to work and doing research. After many talks with Anneli and internal searching, I finally decided to quit and pursue my own business, and haven't looked back since. Good luck, Snap.
Cheers, Wayne

That's it Snap, fight the power, fight the power.

Stand up to da man.

Actually, I am envious, wish I could get out of my job. Still waiting for my wife to make enough so that I can quit and just ride my bike.

Why, was it a mess? Nobody else at the cafeteria do dishes? ;)

Well, good luck. Hopefully they'll listen to you rather than lose you. Cleaning up other people's disasters always sucks. Especially if they don't care or don't take responsibility for it.

Received a rather cryptic email from my manager - asking that I not do anything "rash", that there are things in the works that will benefit me. Hmmmm. Could get interesting.
