I f***ing hate cycling!

Worked hard all off-sesaon and pre-season, juggling work, child and spousal committments... Rides at 5am to alleviate the inevitable "you're spending too much time riding and not enough {fill-in-the-blank}". Firm deflection of weekend work tasks - "sorry PM, I'll be gone those dates AS I MENTIONED 2 MONTHS AGO."

First race of the season. A small, meaningless race - just meant to get that racing "feel" back... 11 miles in * boom * crash, fractured elbow, game over.

I f***ing hate this sport!!!

2nd child and quiting racing???

Come-on,
I have three kids - 2, 6 & 9. Wife, job, lots of home/family responsibilities and projects.
Racing age is 42 this year.

Now I race mostly MTB, but still should be able to fit around 6ish MTB races in a 5 or so road races. I have been training around 7-8 hours a week which is much higher than I normaly do....It's all about riding when it fits your family schedule best - I end up riding solo most of the time.
MTB - racing expert and podiumed most of all last yer
Road - racing cat 4/5 and will hold my own, but not breaking the top 10 yet (new to road racing)

for the support. I'm not usually one to whine - really :) When I broke my back a few seasons ago, I took it pretty much in stride. I guess I'm just pissed because I'm finally back to my old form and I know I probably won't be able to race next year (2nd child)... plus I ain't getting any younger :)

Oh well, now I'm just crossing my fingers that there's enough bone left to do the pinning surgery. I'm so, like someone else mentioned, I could be back on the road in 6 wks or so.

If I can't, however, anyone want to buy a never used 2006 license - I'll sell at a discount :)

Cheers,

I offered to by a tadem road bike to try and get my wife involved. She has show zero intrest in bicycling over the last 15 years I have know her........

Saturday I'm at the bike shop buying 2 Jamis bikes for my kids and she actually took a seat on a Jamis Cruiser. I offered to buy it right then...she said to wat a bit for the $$, but I was shocked she is showing some interest. I think she wants to start riding around the neighborhood with the kids - at least is a start :)

No chance of getting the wife in on the sport too, is there? I've got our second kid on the way and I think I've convinced my wife to let me gear her up and get her rolling once she's all recovered from the 2nd kid. Who knows where it will lead.
