Worked hard all off-sesaon and pre-season, juggling work, child and spousal committments... Rides at 5am to alleviate the inevitable "you're spending too much time riding and not enough {fill-in-the-blank}". Firm deflection of weekend work tasks - "sorry PM, I'll be gone those dates AS I MENTIONED 2 MONTHS AGO."

First race of the season. A small, meaningless race - just meant to get that racing "feel" back... 11 miles in * boom * crash, fractured elbow, game over.

I f***ing hate this sport!!!

Take a breath and come back

I hear ya, that totally sucks.

If it helps at all, last season my wife got fit, started her training crashed and shattered her wrist while commuting, recoved from that trained got fit and got crashed ON the way to a training ride tore all the hamstrings in her right leg. More than game over it was season over and to add insult to injury this was after she put countless hours into building a pretty fully supported elite womens team so she spent the whole season in the team car or on the sidelines - but shes back to racing (team grew too).

If it gives you hope her teammate touched ground in the Feb shattered her elbow had surgery (pinned) and is back racing as of 2 weeks ago and doing ok (Another of her team mates just took 5th in a collegate race with a cast on her wrist), so you can get back. If at all possible get any surgery that offer that pins the bone your recovery will be halfed. When my wife broke her wrist (well shattered) she had a plate put in (and 9 screws Ti so its light) and was on the trainer the next day, the torn hammys were a different story all together.

Theres hope
