Apple just invented the paper bag according to the USPTO:

United States Patent Application: 0160264304

Grocery stores will now be sued for infringement.
That is pretty goofy, but here's a technical correction of an error made by you and repeatedly by virtually every news outlet that does stories on such things. That's not a patent; it's a patent APPLICATION. The USPTO publishes applications 180 days after they're filed, long before they've decided whether the invention is patentable, and in fact before they've even started examining the application. The publication of the application implies no opinion by the government. They just publish it exactly as you filed it, even if on its face it's unpatentable.

I recently joked Apple [are such arrogant pricks that they] might soon remove the screen. Seeing it suggested in this cracked me up big time. But they can make anything and people just buy it.

Still though--you have to admire the Chutzpah.

It'll be rubber stamped. Applications from megacorps always are.

18 months to publish. The government can't work that quickly!
