Campy has (unintentionally?) made their cranks "better" backward compatible. The 11 speed cranks shift the 10 speed chain amazingly well, even better than the 10 speed versions. I'm scouring the internet on a good deal for a Record 11 speed crankset to switch one of my bikes over to compact, but so far all I can find a deal on is Chorus (Wiggle for $337) . I know it's petty but I can't get myself to put a Chorus crank on an all Record bike... it seems uncouth!

Thanks for looking, but a $170 markup from Chorus just won't do it for me. I bought one last year for under $400 (edit, $300!), that's kind of what I am waiting for. Maybe in the fall...

Good luck. The only Record or SR cranks I'm seeing anywhere near that price range right now are 53/39, not compacts.

You might get lucky on fleabay.

Oh yeah. I saw that price for Super Record and just kind of freaked. The first one I posted would be good though.

I'd watch eBay. If you're not in a hurry, the best deals seem to pop up in the fall and winter. Managed to snag a brand new SR 11s crankset last fall for under $400.

I'm running it on a 10s drivetrain with SR/Record components everywhere else, and it's awesome.

I finally found a leftover 2010 Super Record 170mm compact over at Bike24 for $406 shipped. They have a few left if anyone else is interested, including a 175mm compact.
