Folks,
I've been using ice baths after longer rides and although painful and embarrassing, I've certainly felt the benefits. Please educate me as to the benefits of compression socks/tights.
Thanks.:)

Why are ice baths embarrassing? How cold does the water need to be? How long do you stay in?

Sorry, I don't know anything about compression tights.. I've read conflicting stories about compression clothes for recovery. I do have some on the way that I will be trying soon.

after a long ride, i put on 2xu elite tights for a few hours. i don't know if it's the psychological effect or an real physiological effect, but it seems to reduce soreness on the following day. i haven't tried ice bath and i don't think i will. skins also makes recovery tights. i think they are more or less comparable, but i find 2xu fits me better.

I find that compression socks are good for when I'm on my feet for a long time. When I used to do a lot of running at night I'd wear them to bed and generally felt better in the morning.
Could be psychological but if you feel better its worth it

Sweet!!! I do ice baths to reduce inflammation, never tried compression clothing. I would think that it would compress to reduce inflammation but would probably hinder the circulation causing the lactic acid already built up in the muscles to remain longer.
I would opt for a sequential compression device but they are not cheap, especially the ones that have cold therapy. They are designed to promote healing by circulation with minimal compression. Many pro teams use them.
