I could use those prayers now, please.

Just got word my nephew, one I basically "grew up" with and one I am closest to, was just in a snowboard accident and is on his way to the hospital in convulsions. I know nothing else at this point.

God help him.

Update later.

Snap I am about three hours away.

Mom and I are waiting to go over until we find out which hospital.

Apparently he went down to the aid station because he had hurt his thumb in the crash, and while he was there lost concsiousness and started siezing.

As I an R.N. w/trauma experience... I know this is probably a brain bleed. Not good.

Thank you people for thoughts and prayers. He's a special young man.

Good preliminary news, he's awake and talking.

From what I'm hearing by word of mouth, it sounds like it may be trauma induced seizure (bumped noggins where the brain's "wiring" goes haywire).

Iirc, can be a permanent condition, so I'm hoping not.

They're taking him in for head CT now.

Thanks all.

And he WASN'T wearing his helmet. He's going to get an @ss kicking from Auntie OEH to go along with his brain bash.

Awake and talking sounds good. I hope the good news continues and will have him in my thoughts.

Small success story in similar circumstances...

Glad to hear the initial news isn't as bad as it could have been...
FWIW, my boss's son had a bad snowboard crash three years ago complete with subdural bleed. Obviously it's a big deal, but he's completely recovered now and in law school at Stanford.

I thought you said this was a success story! :) (Sorry--Cal grad, so I couldn't resist!)

But seriously, OEH, you have my best wishes.
