I have a 5(ish) year old Dell Inspiron that has just developed a very hot spot
in the lower right corner of teh screen. So hot, I can't touch it with my thumb for more
than a second. The hot spot is almost an inch in size and is accompanied
by a black spot also. WTF?? Screen dying??? Once in a while teh screen flickers
ever so slightly; it's barely noticable.

pouring a glass of water on the thing should cool it down. And will likely cure your Vista problem simulta...at the same time.
