Noticed my cleat split a couple weeks ago, but I haven't bothered replacing it while I am still on the trainer. The cleats are relatively new, so I would rather not buy a whole new set But if the yellow part comes off, will if affect the function of the cleat, or are the yellow pieces simply for walking? It looks like it split along a seam, so its not like my pedal style could have caused this.

I beleive that line on the black plastic above the rubber walking bumper is a mold mark, not a crack. If that's what you are worried about, it's no problem.

Yes, the yellow pads are for walking. The cleat will function fine if that's the only problem with it.

It's a cell phone camera. But yeah, all the yellow below that crack is about to come off completely. (Basically the whole yellow piece on the inside of the foot will be gone).

If the yellow part falls off, repace it by building up a similar size blob with Shoe Goo, or gluing a piece of rubber there.
