I just replaced a broken spoke. I've always been wary of working on wheels because it's hard to go back to the original setup. They're the only thing I hate messing with. With everything else it seems if I screw up I can just unscrew and start at the begining, but mess up a wheel there's no way to start over. That said It was 25 bucks to get a shop to replace it or 1.50 for a new spoke and nipple.
It ended up being a half hour with truing and was a lot less painful than I thought it would be.
Seriously, this was one of the easiest fixes I've ever done, I really can't imagine paying for someone else to do something so simple.
It feels good to not mess up.
