It rained last night and the temps stayed well above freezing.

As the sun rose the fog rolled in.

The Cherry Blossoms around the Tidal Basin look about 1 day away from popping.

There were a few more people down there this morning but you could still ride your bike around the basin (it was nutso tonight). Likely the last time you will be able to do that for a couple of weeks!

The fog got too thick around the basin for any photography (the camera was starting to get wet) so I headed over to the reflecting pool.

It was foggy there too but the sun was burning it off fairly quickly.

Then I noticed something new at the WWll Memorial.

Sweet!

Sweet shot of the Washington from WWII. I like Kilroy too. My mom used to tell me stories of seeing Kilroy everywhere when she was younger.

I'm surprised at how clear it was for you. I couldn't even see the river at Leesylvania today. It was amazingly foggy.

Beautiful as usual.

Wow, I love your WWII shots and the "voila" quality of the two Lincoln Memorial shots.
There is a very peaceful quality to the tidal basin shots which is in opposition to the crowds that will be there later for the cherry blossoms.

I've seen that before and it's in a song too. Isn't Kilroy related to Vietnam?

Zeytin: Kilroy started out during WW2. There's a nice article on it on Wikipedia. I've placed a few during my travels. Although I tend to use Post-It Notes, rather than chalk.

Saw the first buds on some of our Cherry (or maybe plums, I can never remember which bloom first) trees today: three weeks late. The "experts" say that we should have a truly spectacular blossoming season this year. Because Spring is so late everything may well bloom at once.
