I was just wondering if the Kindle can enlarge the fonts enough to emulate a large print version of a book? If so, does this also work with newspapers and magazines and such?

The Amazon Kindles have six available font sizes. They range from 12pt to 20pt. The typical paper large print book has a print size of 16pt.

If you're thinking about getting one for an elderly person, let me know how it works. I was thinking about one for my mom for her birthday & she hates most technology, but loves reading.
That is the case. My 90 year old FIL can't read regular type anymore--was thinking this might be a possible solution. I may get one for myself anyway and see if he can manage it first. He still uses a electric typewriter so I'm not getting my hopes up. I think I heard it can also read to a person.
