Different finishes mean different colors and different tones. Starting at $26 for the basic Oi (click to enlarge).
In my job as Site Manager and Editor for RoadBikeReview, I receive a ton of email each day. Many of them are from small companies trying to break into the cycling industry with some new bike, lock, app or other bike component or accessory. Many of these new products use the popular Kickstarter crowdfunding platform in order to get off the ground and after a while, all of these emails start to blend together.
But, one recent email really caught my eye for two reasons. First, the brand was an already established bike biz brand: Knog. They are an Australian based company that is most widely known for their locks, lights and other small parts and I own and use some of their products already. Second, the new product itself was so elegant and simple in design, this email was definitely worth a second look. It's not every day that I get excited over a bike bell.
The new Oi bell from Knog looks different from any other bell I've seen before. Small and shiny, it's almost hypnotic. But the true beauty of the Oi is in its tone. Watch the video to hear what I mean:

The Oi comes in two sizes to fit almost any diameter handlebar and there is a variety of finishes that will be available including: brushed aluminium, brass, copper, black, and of course titanium. This Kickstarter campaign began just a day ago, but they are already well over their fundraising mark by a factor of 10x. You can pledge as little as $26 for a basic Oi or go big and pledge $777 for a box of 30 Oi bells (3x each style and size of bell) and a 4 day pass to Eurobike. Bonus points to Knog, because they are already an established brand, they are less likely to take your money and run, like many unsuccessful Kickstarter campaigns.
