Here we go again... my 2cents re. Liège Bastogne Liège 2006...

1) Jose Acevedo
2) Bobbi Julich
3) Stefan Wesemann

with Erik Dekker and Evgeni Petrov with possible Top 5 finishers... Maybe Schleck will have a go but Bobbi J should be the top rider for the Riis-squad in my humble opinion.

I don't think we will see much of Bettini.

Cheers !

Haven't seen a start list. I'll look for one now, and say Bettini if he is starting.

Ok, it looks like he isn't riding LBL (just read article that said he was scouting Stage 3 of Giro today). So my pick is for a 156 group mass sprint which results in a tie.

Schleck and Kroon are hot...

But I bet on

Sinkewitz
Di Luca
Bettini.

Just pure gut feeling... Are they even starters?

If Valverde makes the final group it's all over. Other than that a bunch of Spaniards make the final cut, CSC on the podium, and some more of the GT contenders will show their faces at the front.

Cunego and Ballan are riding for Lampre so I would expect one of them to be challenging for the podium -- probably Ballan with Cunego supporting him as this is warm-up to Giro for The Kid.

Cunego should be interesting. Ballan has to be on his last bit of form. He should be interesting to watch, but I have to think he's lacking the sharpness he had 3 weeks ago.

Bettini can't be counted out, but he didn't look as sharp as usual last Sunday.

No one will work in a group with Valverde, but he can hang with their attacks.

Can you tell I'm at a loss as to who is going to win?

Is Astroloa's team in the race? If so, that's my pic. If not, Valverde.

i reckon it will be either of the four: (if they attack early enough)

miguel angel perdiguero
damiano cunego
david etxebarria
danillo di luca

although if the race comes down to the cote de st nicholas it will probably come down to bettini, boogerd, vinokourov or my real dark horse, gilberto simoni!! ;)

Valverde, Boonen or Bettini.
That would be some feat if Boonen could pull it off.

Quick Step Innergetic:

51 Paolo Bettini (Ita)
52 Serge Baguet (Bel)
53 Addy Engels (Ned)
54 Juan Manuel Garate (Spa)
55 José Antonio Garrido (Spa)
56 Hubert Schwab (Swi)
57 Bram Tankink (Ned)
58 Cédric Vasseur (Fra)

Dwayne Berry was very close naming the top three but the top two were in reversed order.

whit417 - very "whitty" remark - my bad for not checking QuickStep lineup for LBL. Your own prediction was not so close, however ;)
