This just got to me by email, about a meeting tonight:
Caltrainʼs Bike Master Plan will leave you behind, unless you act
now! Caltrain is unveiling a report on its Draft Bicycle Master Plan, which will
get you bike parking at 10 of its most-popular stations. What it
wonʼt get you is more bike space on trains, now or in the future.
We need you to attend the Caltrain Joint Powers Board meeting (the
folks who run Caltrain) on Thursday, August 7, at 10 a.m. sharp in the
auditorium on the second floor of the SamTrans Administrative Offices,
1250 San Carlos Ave., San Carlos. We need a strong show of support to
get bikes-on-board included in the Bike Master Plan. We have a group
of speakers lined up to make public comment, and we need you in the
audience with your bicycle helmet in hand. Please show up at the
Caltrain Board meeting on August 7!
For more information, please see: www.sfbike.org/caltrain_bob
The CalTrain plans don't address the amount of bikes that can fit on trains. Seems they think that by adding bike parking at train stations, they solve bike rider's needs. Where I think most people would rather bring their bike on with them, so they can ride at both ends of their commute.
If you can make it, it would be helpful to make the case.
