This just got to me by email, about a meeting tonight:

Caltrainʼs Bike Master Plan will leave you behind, unless you act
now! Caltrain is unveiling a report on its Draft Bicycle Master Plan, which will
get you bike parking at 10 of its most-popular stations. What it
wonʼt get you is more bike space on trains, now or in the future.

We need you to attend the Caltrain Joint Powers Board meeting (the
folks who run Caltrain) on Thursday, August 7, at 10 a.m. sharp in the
auditorium on the second floor of the SamTrans Administrative Offices,
1250 San Carlos Ave., San Carlos. We need a strong show of support to
get bikes-on-board included in the Bike Master Plan. We have a group
of speakers lined up to make public comment, and we need you in the
audience with your bicycle helmet in hand. Please show up at the
Caltrain Board meeting on August 7!

For more information, please see: www.sfbike.org/caltrain_bob

The CalTrain plans don't address the amount of bikes that can fit on trains. Seems they think that by adding bike parking at train stations, they solve bike rider's needs. Where I think most people would rather bring their bike on with them, so they can ride at both ends of their commute.

If you can make it, it would be helpful to make the case.

Apologies if I double posted - I just didn't remember seeing anything about this on RBR.com. Some last minute rush emails were being sent out to get people there, and I thought I would try to do my part (couldn't make it there myself).

So - did anyone go? What were the results?

Remember that the whole point of the Caltrain outreach meetings is to get input from the public. If you don't like what Caltrain is planning, you need to go to the meetings and give them your input. They are listening to the public through their official channels, but probably not to the whiners on Internet forums.
