The sucky part is that because I am a typical macho man (see stupid) and just “rode through the pain” and have ridden around 3500 miles a year for the last two years the nerve damage I have caused kept me from feeling the pain that is usually associated with the real root of the problem which is a case Osteomyelitis (a type of pyogenic bacteria bone infection) that has set in and is past the point that typical antibiotic therapy will be effective and the doctor is considering amputation below the (right) knee to prevent the infection from spreading further. Needless to say I am somewhat shocked at this proposition. Luckily for me it is that particular day of the year that pulling your leg instead of amputating mine is what is really going on.Acroosteolysis neurogenic: A very rare inherited condition characterized mainly by the loss of all sensations - the loss of the ability to feel pain, temperature and touch.
