Is the future dim for Windows? Macs are taking over colleges.

Macs have always been big in education and certain fields like graphic design.

No change.

When they start taking over companies with 50,000+ employees it will be news.
I'm guessing the big price breaks they give to students don't hurt either.

10% is not all that big a price break.

Yea and we have a few Macs here and there too. Mostly sales and marketing people so that they know what they're talking about when they drive across town to make a sale.

But the remaining 64,996 computers are Win.

I thought they got more than that--anyway...10% is better than the zero discount the rest of us get. And software is super cheap at schools no matter if it's Mac or PC.

Software may be cheap but sometimes the licensing is draconian and insane, AutoDesk softwares are like that. Sometimes the licenses are great and cheap like Adobe CS.

The bicycle looks infinitely more appealing to me than the rice rocket, because, like most of the people on this forum, I really like bicycles.

Whaddya mean? At 75% off, they're true bargains, as long as you are comparing to Lenovo MSRP. And don't mind giving up several useful features.:D

That is the exact motorcycle I have, it appeals to me as well as bicycles. I'm well-rounded two-wheeled-wise.

We have Macs in the company; maybe two of them. Tons of Windows stuff but a small company (compared to 50,000 anyway). The business world switching to Mac? Not in my lifetime. The graphics people have the Macs around here, that's it.

And me, when I go home. :p

I don't spend much time doing anything graphical or any video editing. But our IT guys are replacing some Macs in lieu of Windows machines because they claim that the old theory that Macs are better at it an old myth that won't go away, and Windows does just fine at it.
I just got a new quad core desktop at work with Win 7 finally, Windows XP can suck it.
