The bike comes almost completely assembled, I work at a local LBS that sells Trek, you need to attach the bars, pedals, seatmast and seat and put on the wheels and chain. The mechanics at our shop usually check the crank installation too, then tune the bike and it is ready to go.

But.... This also depends on how well you want the bike set up for you, especially with regard to the steerer tube on the fork, spacers, and stack height. Stock, the fork steerer has a little bit of length left on it that you may not want, so you may have to remove the stem and fork, remove the compression plug and re-cut the steerer. I would have this done at a local LBS generally. The shop I work for does it when we size the bikes to the individual customer.
