From time to time I ride my madone 4.7 on the local bike paths which are a mix of cement sidewalk and fine gravel/dirt. Aside from the obvious tire and wheel wear, should I be concerned about damaging my madone riding on this type of terrain?

This is my first carbon frame bike and I'd like to understand the durability I should expect from the frame. Thanks.

I think the greatest danger about gravel dirt is that your tires could slip causing you to go down. Other than that, your wheels will take the brunt of the damage on rough roads. The frame should be fine, just remember that it's not meant for mountain bike trails.

Of course. I'm only talking about dedicated bike paths here. I'm not interested in trail riding my roadie.

Falling is a concern but I've got a lot of dirt/gravel road experience from my old Bridgestone RB-1 days.
