The new bike I'm looking at comes with Mavic CXP22 rims laced to Specialized hubs and I was wondering about how they might compare to my old road bike's Open Pro's laced to Ultegra hubs? I liked the durablility of the OP's and their weight seemed ok to me, SO anyone think I should swap out the CXP22' wheelset for OP's? Thanks.

1 vote for swap.

depending on condition... but the teg/OP is a higher quality set....

cxp22 isn't terrible, but is around 500g IIRC cf OP @ ~ 430g.

it isn't as nicely finished as mavic's higher end offerings either.

i have the same wheelset you have, although theyre boring looking and heavy, possibly over 2 kilos, the hubs roll well and havent had any issues, ill keep them till the rims wear out or bearings go then upgrade to something nicer and lighter

I have the CXP-22 with Ultegra hubs and have ridden them for a year + with no issues. They are not sexy, but they work great. If you are looking for weight issues may be worth going to other wheels, but at 280lbs I have plenty of places to loose weight than wheels.
