I have Mavic K Elites on my Giant TCR Limited. I had two flats on the front and one on the rear, each after a long ride and the bike is back home standing against the wall. Each flat was caused by a cut in the tube close the the presta shaft. I noticed each rim had a light burr around the inlet hole for the tube stem. I used my dremel and some polishing compound to smooth the burrs.

Is there more I can do? I did not think these wheels needed rim tape.

I had a pair of first generation Ks that had this problem as well. At first I filed the valve holes, but I still had issues. Ultimately I put a very small piece of velox around the hole and that cured the problem. I had about 1.5" of tape on either side of the hole.

I friend of mine soved the problem by cutting out a small rectangle of an old tube, poking a hole in it, and sliding it over the valve stem before installation. This solution worked as well.
