I've gotten to that magical point in my cycling career where I just want to stuff for the sheer joy of just doing something different.

My first good road bike in the 70s was a Torpado. For sure, it was an entry level Italian water pipe special, but it was leagues ahead of the bikes that I had been riding and at least equal to a lot of my riding buddies bikes.

Then in a stop sign sprint...it became part of the rear bumper of a '73 Olds Cutlass...

So, fast forward 30 years and in through my sponsor shop's door was a woman asking to "donate" some bikes that were taking up space in her parents house.

One of them was a close cousin to that lost bike of my youth (actually, it's not so lost. It still sits beside my house as a reminder and flower bed art...). It soon became mine (like immediately).

It was dirty, the Campy components were either rusty, corroded, dried out or frozen in time, but it was all there. I had to make it run again.

So over the last few months, it's been stripped to it's bare frame. Cleaned, refurbished, overhauled, chased, faced and reamed.

she's gotten some nice gfts. A Phil rear hub, a nice NOS Campy front. Campy Omega 19 rims, a salsa road stem and a donor set of Scott LF bars (flipped and hacked). A real clean SR Campy clone crank and a sugino BB. I gave up on finding a like era 26.0 seatpost, so I nabbed a cheapo Kalloy and threw an old cracked Specialized saddle on it.

I have to admit that for now, it's running a freewheel. Until I get the fit and how she feels under me right anyway.

This how she turned out:

Real nice.

You need to put some yellow/black tape on the bars. Gotta get color coooordinated.

Nah, I like the blue. It accents the color in the headbadge. I actually put thought in that (besides, I only had enough yellow/black for one bar).

I like the bike, but that's gotta be the ugliest brake lever in existence!
LOL, its a Universal Model 61 lever. Polished and without it's old cracked white rubber hood!

But thanks...I think...
