I am about to change out my 105 rear and Tiagra front for, Dura Ace and Ultegra respectively. Will undoing the cables during installation change my indexing? I am afraid that the perfect shifting sweet spots will move, and the front will rub. If so, what do I need to do to "reset" and re-sync the shifters/derailleurs?
Thanks

Indexing

The index spacing is set in the shifters, not the derailleurs. Go to http://www.parktools.com and read the instructions for attaching cables and adjusting derailleurs, it's really quite simple. If you are installing new shifters the Shimano instructions will answer your questions.

Changing Indexing on F. Derailleurs

You could also go to http://www.sheldonbrown.com/gearing/index.html since he has written a pretty good article on getting your gears to work properly. I'm wrestling with a bike that I am building and am having to convince some old Shimano 600STI shifters to work with an 8-speed cassette - it is proving difficult, but gives me an excuse to go faff with bikes in the garage!
