Hey I'm a mountain biker in the New Haven area and I'm planning to purchase a road bike sometime in the coming weeks. I absolutely love mountain biking and currently have a Spec Stumpy FSR 29er. I have lately thought about getting into racing road bikes. I have always been an athlete and now (23) miss the competition. I am looking to purchase a Spec Allez race with the 105 groupset. Any other road bikers in the area who don't mind showing someone new to asphalt how the sport goes?

I'm no longer in the area, but you should check out the route(s) used for the Folks on Spokes ride in Milford. It's a really nice route and gets up into West Haven if I recall. You can also put in some pretty peaceful miles on the Greenway trail as long as you do it on "off hours" or when the weather is bad. Used to make a great rain ride...

Yes, check your local bike shops for rides and/or ride routes. There is also the rail-trail that runs from New Haven to Cheshire, it's about 14.5 miles long.
