The first component in the new Smart ENVE System lineup, the SES Aero Bar (MSRP: $1,365), is finally ready to make its primetime debut and begin shipping to customers worldwide.
These new aero bars are a result of ENVE's partnership with Simon Smart, an ex-Formula One aerodynamicist who's transitioned into the cycling world and had a leading hand in development of the Giant Trinity and Scott Plasma 3 time trial frames. These bars themselves were developed for aftermarket use and allow a broad range of adjustability.
Pad carriers are capable of multiple configurations to fine tune arm rest position.
The SES Aero Bar adhere to ENVE's function first philosophy, where a component must be compatible with a majority of the frames on the market. Thus the SES Aero Bar utilizes a standard 31.8mm clamp, allowing it to be used on virtually any modern triathlon or time trial bike.
The new bar is also designed to be compatible with as many riders as possible. To achieve this virtually infinite fit and adjustability options, the SES Aero Bar features a reversible base bar, micro angle adjust extensions, reversible extension towers with multiple width options, 2-in-1 extension, and pad carriers capable of multiple configurations to fine tune arm rest positions and extensions up to 75mm off the base bar.
Other spec details include a weight of 650-825 grams, base bar width (c to c) of 40cm, base bar drop of ±21mm, extensions angle adjust of 0-15 degrees, height adjust spacers of 5mm, 10mm, and 20mm, arm rest/extension width of 86mm (narrow) or 173 mm (wide), pad width center to center of 125mm to 200mm, and stack height of arm rest/extension of 15mm / 90mm.
