Hi All,

I am new to riding and I want to get a road bike to get into it. Since I am new, I was wondering what type of road bike I should look into buying. I don't need anything too fancy, but I don't want to get anything cheap out of lack of knowledge about bikes. Can anyone recommend some good brands for a "starter" bike?

I will mostly use it for weekend rides and maybe commute to work some days with it.

Thanks!

Very vague question...

Go to a Bicycle Shop (NOT Walmart, Target, K-Mart) and talk to them about what kind of riding you intend to do. Major road bike brands include Specialized, Giant, Trek, Cannondale, Jamis, Raleigh, Schwinn, Felt, and a few more. As long as you purchase the bike from a Bicycle Shop and not a department store you can feel pretty confident that your getting a quality product.
