Hello all...I have a problem...I just bought my first road bike after building a new single speed and full suspension mtb over the winter. Yes, I know...I need help, and that's why I'm here. :D

Anyway, I got the first ride in yesterday and I know I need to shorten the stem a bit but what I don't know is the sizing for road stems...MTBs are easier with either the regular at 25.4 or the OS at 31.8...but what is considered to be "regular" size for road stems?

Thanks much in advance!

Sizes

No such thing as a standard size. Most common are 26.0 and 31.8, however unless you are changing your bars as well, you need to match your current bars. Presumably you know the brand & model of the bars (usually it's marked all over the bars) and from that you can determine the diameter either by going to the company's web site or posting the question here.

You could also go to your LBS & have them measure it with some calipers.
